About Sable Tarn
A small mountain tarn in a rocky hollow under the crags of Sable Fell, named for the fell above it as the old tarns always are. The water is peat-stained and black, and on a still day it holds the whole crag upside down.
It has no outflow worth the name and no fish anyone has caught. The rushes along its near shore are the only thing that moves.
